About Us
Mosaic
We have worked on many mosaic commissions over the years. Here are examples of two recent projects: Clatterbridge Hospital, on the Wirral, and a community project in Eastern Oswestry.
Clatterbridge Hospital
The Project Group was invited to put forward a proposal for an art installation to combine the newly designed entrance hall of the mental health unit at Clatterbridge with the new garden area.
This project involved members of The Project Group as well as carers, managers and most importantly, inpatients at Clatterbridge.
The 40 metres mosaic river runs from the inside of the building into the garden.
We were also asked to design wall panels based on the chakra colours, depicting healing plants in the appropriate colours.

The story of this commission by three of our members:
"Our mission, which we accepted, was to design and install a mosaic in the form of a river, with an overall length of 40meters (very long).
The whole installation was assembled in our studio, in metre lengths. All was well until a site visit revealed, someone had the wrong type of tape measure, and the width was smaller. So the complete length was adjusted, and we were still smiling. Just!
Installation was over an 8 day period, with about 5 members and 2 staff per day. All of the days, although dry, were very windy, so we had several gazebos which we had to bolt down.
Over each day, hospital staff, doctors, management and inpatients helped with the installation, including designing and installing their own fish designs. Some days we achieved our targets, but most of the time we felt we were playing catch up, even though we completed on time.
There was a good rappor over the installation with all the helpers from the hospital. Plus many highlights, including missing fish! One person, after 36 metres completed, including many new installed fish, wanted to insert a mosaic of a loaf of bread!!! What could we say, so after we picked ourselves up and brushed ourselves down, we used our loaf, directed the individual to what the theme of last 36 metres had been about. At 5pm we finally completed the installation with much pride and satisfaction.
Now we are looking forward to attending the "official opening".

Eastern Oswestry
This project was commissioned by Oswestry Borough Council as a partnership between The Project Group, local residents and the nearby primary school.
From original drawings by the children, The Project Group designed steel bollards and mosaic bases to surround 'The Green'; an open space in Eastern Oswestry.
The bollards prevented vehicles being driven across the grass, ensuring the play space and local amenity was protected.
